1948 Opens Its Doors For Business

Bringing big agency experience to organisations of all shapes and sizes, new PR and communications consultancy 1948 has opened its doors for business.

Co-founded by Jacquie Coleman, the former London head of one of the UK’s largest independent communications agencies, and her husband Simon, 1948 shapes conversations that deliver business growth.

Jacquie said: ‘We’ve combined my 20 years of PR experience with Simon’s skills as an actor, storyteller and behaviour change expert, and brought them together under one roof. It’s our diverse talent that sets us apart and enables us to take a rounded, common-sense approach to communications.

‘We transform the way clients communicate with both their customers and their people because we have the expertise to do so. That’s why there are two intertwined strands to our business: public relations and people relations.’

1948 is not a typical agency set-up, and while some of the proposition is as you’d expect, the team will be introducing clients to novel services, particularly when it comes to people relations and driving behaviour change from within.

Former West-end actor Simon said: ‘I’ve spent decades studying behaviours and how words, and the way they are delivered, can connect with an audience and bring about an intended outcome. They’ve been put to good use on stage and film, and more recently in a business setting where my expertise in crucial conversations and behavioural theatre have helped organisations thrive.

‘We totally understand how impactful conversations or communications – whatever you want to call it – can be truly transformative.’

Despite the challenges of continued lockdowns 1948 has hit the ground running with three retained clients and is building a team of consultants, bringing in expertise when it’s needed.

‘It keeps costs down for our clients, and ensures they have access to the best talent around,’ said Jacquie.

As a PR consultancy that focuses on the ability to shape conversations and build a connection the 1948 name has a story behind it.

‘We wanted a name that meant something to us, something with a powerful story behind it rather than just a name that related to PR or communications. We totally connect with it. It’s us laid bare. It’s honest, straight-talking and sums us up perfectly,’ finished Simon.
